Renovation Project Update

Renovation Project Update

Hi everyone, hope you are well. I wanted to post an update on the house renovation as it has been a little while since I did a video. In this instalment I have just done a bit more work myself and mostly preparation for tradespeople to come in and begin the larger projects. I have also used this video to walk through the house and explain the next stages, the work that will be underway soon and upcoming projects. I have also included some photos here of the work I have completed taking off the remaining wallpaper and backing paper from the staircase, porch and living room areas.

Under-Stairs Cupboard Gone!

Under-Stairs Cupboard Gone!

So in this latest instalment of my house renovation we've had some exciting updates. Firstly the rubble, bricks and concrete between the two fireplaces (in the alcove) has been removed and cleared. The fireplace at the front has had the concrete slab taken out (which it was sitting on). The electrics have been stripped back in the kitchen. The Sky satellite dish from the back of the property was taken down. Tiles from the front step (which were dangerously slippery) have been removed and the cupboard under the stairs is gone!

Plumbing Work + Updates

Plumbing Work + Updates

Well hello there! It has been a little while since I did an update on the work happening at my new house. I posted a finance video as my last instalment on my YouTube channel and blog post which you can view by clicking here. I spoke about the costs involved in the entire purchasing process including legal fees, deposit, mortgage and additional costs. In this update I'll be walking you through the next stages of work that have happened at the house. This mainly consists of plumbing work, removing the fireplace and remaining kitchen sections as well as checking the heating system and pipes.

Financing My First Home

Financing My First Home

In this blog post I wanted to cover everything financial from buying my first home. I did include some of these figures in a past blog post 'I Bought A House!' but I wanted to create a separate post to highlight everything in one place. This previous post was about the whole process of finding out how much money I could borrow, viewing property, agreeing on a price and every step through the process if you wanted a bit more of a detailed read. I hope you find this post useful and if you are thinking of buying property it might give you an insight into costs to expect.

The Work Begins

The Work Begins

I am so excited to share this next instalment and update with you. I've been working (with the help of my lovely family and friends) on my house over the past month and my latest renovation video is now live. The first video I featured in the series was a tour of my house without any work completed and there has been quite a lot going on around all of us working full-time. We've taken any opportunity to get working here from evenings during the week to stints on weekends.

New Home Tour

New Home Tour

So I bought a house back in November and I wanted to feature my first tour video in a separate blog entry. I had included it in my last post about the whole buying process but as I am creating a YouTube renovation series it definitely an entry of its own. This is the very first footage I have of my new house, I wanted to film it every step of the way to be able to remember what it was like and how much progress goes on in the coming months.

I Bought A House!

I Bought A House!

I can’t believe I’m writing this post. I’ve been working towards this for so long and I wanted to document the full process from start to finish and recapping what I have done before 2020 to facilitate this process. I have put this post together from journal entries and drafts every day that something significant happened in the journey. Hope you enjoy reading and it gives a bit of insight if you haven’t bought a property before.

Month of Miles | Diabetes UK

Month of Miles | Diabetes UK

This October I am taking part in Month of Miles to raise money for Diabetes UK. I haven't been running in so long so I am a bit nervous about getting back into it. One of my work colleagues Lynne has helped by sending me a couch-to-5K plan with some great warm-up ideas so this should definitely be useful. I have set myself a small target of raising £30 for Diabetes as I know there are many people who are struggling financially at the moment so any donations are really greatly appreciated. I've set my goal of running a full marathon over the month so 26.2 miles. This means I have to run just under a mile a day but I am going to see how I progress as the days go on (I'll likely do much more than this)!

Elsa Rhae + Barron, Normal to Nomad

I have recently stumbled across amazing content online from Elsa Rhae & Barron Link on YouTube, their websites, Apple Podcasts and their Instagram accounts. A video was recommended to me on my YouTube home page (thank you algorithm!) which I have embedded below. The video went into detail about isolation in their 13ft Scamp trailer which they live in full time and the effects of a winter snow storm on their daily lives.
